The Challenge

Starbucks needed to train over 238,000 employees worldwide on barista operations, equipment use, and drink recipes in a scalable, accessible way.

Strategy

Build a custom Learning Management System using WordPress, BuddyPress, and BadgeOS incorporating gamification and automated employee data management.

Execution

Developed custom quiz system using WordPress Custom Post Types and Gravity Forms, integrated Google Charts for reporting, added BuddyPress social profiles, and built automated nightly CSV imports to sync employee data.

Results

Baristas across the nation gained 24/7 access to training materials with built-in 80% competency requirements, manager notifications, and gamified achievement badges driving engagement.
